Cosmos are easy to grow annuals that are both heat and drought tolerant. They seem to thrive on neglect! Their daisy like flowers are offered in yellow and orange. Cultivate or mulch to control weeds.

GAZANIA:

Gazania is an annual that produces bright, colorful flowers on 8 to 12 inch plants. Single daisy-like blooms sit atop the stems. They thrive in hot, dry conditions. Flowers close on cloudy days, and at night. Excellent for sunny borders, rock gardens, containers, and in beds or as a ground cover.

GOMPHRENA "Gnome Purple":

Aka "Globe Armarnth"This is an easy to grow annual with clover like flowers that occur throughout the summer and fall. Will tolerate wind, heat, humidity and drought well, but cannot tolerate poor drainage. May need support. Use its beautiful purple color in borders or container gardens. Excellent cut flowers and everlasting.
